Andy wins at the Milwaukee Mile

in last minute decision to race!!

Without having driven so much as a lap of practice around the Mile in 14 years, Andy Bozell climbed aboard for a wild ride to victory lane in the most competitive race of the day. Bozell took advantage of Brent Downey's sputtering engine to dive to the inside off Turn 4 with three laps to go in the 100-lap race. "I've been racing for 27 years, and back in the early '90s I got a chance to do a little touring stuff," said Bozell, a 46-year-old manufacturing engineer and star of Kalamazoo(Mich.)Speedway.

"I got a little bit of seat time here, but I've always said this is one of my favorite tracks and I really didn't think I'd get another chance to race here again." Bozell won by 0.69 of a second over Hoffman, who sneaked past Downey on the final lap. Five of the 10 starters finished the race.

Bozell's son Phil won the ARCA race at the Mile in 2006.
